THE KEIR QLD STORY

Keir Constructions was established in 1989 by Russell Keir. Russell had supervised the construction of several signature high-rise apartments and motel projects along the Cairns Foreshore throughout the 1980s. At that time, Keir Constructions specialised in high end residential housing projects including the Daikyo Residences at Paradise Palms, which set the benchmark for the local industry in quality standards. Russell developed a team of specialist contractors, many of whom still work with the current business in maintaining its reputation for reliability, workmanship and fairness. The decision was later made to focus on commercial and industrial buildings where Russell became an innovator and leader in the field of concrete tilt wall construction throughout Far North Queensland.

Cambell Balderson’s association with Keir Constructions began over 10 years ago. Over this period, Cambell and Russell developed an excellent professional relationship and it was mutually decided that Cambell would move into a senior role with the Business after a period of consulting in the business. Cambell is a recognised leader in Construction Management in North Queensland with over 18 years experience within the profession. In 2013 Keir QLD was incorporated, with Russell Keir and Cambell Balderson as joint Directors.

Russell and Cambell have now developed the ideology of Design and Construction processes into a painless and efficient model, by bringing the builder on board first instead of last. This team approach works well for both the client and builder and the focus is always on the best outcome for all parties. Keir QLD is now the local commercial builder of preference for many clients and contractors, with around 80% of our business coming from repeat clients.

Our team has worked extensively together over the past 10 years and have comprehensive experience in the challenges of building in the tropics, thanks to decades of experience of building in the Cairns region. We have great people and our construction team “own” their projects from design, costing, through to delivery. This unique process provides a unique intimacy with each job, regardless of size and value.
